DIWALI - NAVRATRI LOOK
Festivities are around the corner. Diwali is just a week
ahead. It is so beautiful to see lanterns, lamps and colourful Rangoli all
around the place. With festivals comes sparks of positivity, happiness and
enchantment. Diwali, hands down is my favourite festival. Diwali is the day when
Lord Rama, Sita, Lakshmana and Lord Hanuman reached Ayodhya after a period in
exile. Lord Rama's army of good defeated demon king Ravana's army of evil
Diwali is celebrated 20 days after Dussehra. Nine days
before Dussehra, Navratri is observed, these nine days are solely dedicated to
Goddess Durga and her nine avatars. Each day is associated to an incarnation of
the goddess. Some people fast for all the 9 days. During Navratri at night, garba
(a dance form) is performed with fervour. Navratri garba is known as the
longest dance festival in the world as it goes on for 9 nights. End of Navratri
is when we celebrate Dussehra, celebrating the victory of Lord Rama over
Ravana, which embarks the victories of Good over Evil.
That was a small contextual for you all about Dussehra, Navratri
and Diwali.
As our today’s look is a Navratri/Diwali look. For festivals,
we wear traditional, Indian, festive clothes. They are not only very beautiful
but also very expensive. So, I thought of putting up a look which not only
looks rich and royal but also is not heavy on our pockets. This look is easy to
create and is perfect for Navratri, Diwali celebrations. This is what I wore for
the garba dance night that I attended.
For this look I teamed up a white crop cold shoulder top,
with a golden skirt and a green brocade dupatta. For accessories I went with
silver accessories, in case you are fond of gold accessories, you can opt for
those. However, gold or silver which ever you opt for, make sure it’s the same
throughout the entire look. Don’t mix and match with the metal of jewellery as
that will not look seamless.
Brocade is very much in fashion right now, so its easily
accessible and are quite inexpensive. You can also use a phulkari dupatta,
instead of a brocade as they also would be extremely beautiful and classy.
For makeup I went with dark kohled eyes, nude lips. Girl’s
highlighter is our best friend. So just dip yourself into it, so that you look
luminous as ever this Diwali and let every one wonder is it LOVE or ten litres
of water that is making you glow, and you be like No No!!! It’s my highlighter hahahah.
Using the blog as a medium, I would like to urge to y’all to
please make this Diwali eco-friendly.
Avoid using electric lights to illuminate your home.
Instead, opt for diyas (earthen lamps) and candles. This saves electricity.
Limit usage of firecrackers that emit enormous smoke and
sound. We want our older generation and our animals also to enjoy.
Dispose off waste properly after celebrations.
Enjoy your Diwali, spread love, laughter, joy all
around. Eat loads of sweets without thinking of that
scale on the weight machine.
Because c’mon Diwali just comes once in a year. Wish you all a very happy and a
safe Diwali!!!!!!
