PRINT ON PRINT

by - October 05, 2018

The concept of print on print could sound daunting, as the probability of going wrong with this style is high. That could be partially true, but if done right, you would love this  style!!  For me personally, when I do a print on print I keep my accessories extremely rudimentary or go with no accessories, that ways you let the outfit speak more.

There are certain rules to follow while playing and experimenting with prints, you have to be scrupulous of not making it look confused and all over the place.

Certain rules I feel which needs to be followed are:-

When you mix prints make sure all of them belong to the same colour family.

Pair bolder patterns with softer colours.

Animal Prints are your holy grail, they can go with anything and everything.

Don’t combine checks and florals, they don't make for a good combination.

Just like animal prints, stripes are your basics they go with everything and anything.

Do not mix too many prints, don't make the look too busy otherwise it will make people dizzzyy..(ahhh!!!! it rhymes 😜)

In a print on print look make sure there is only 2 prints involved in the look, do not keep more than 2 prints in one look.

In a print on print look, the 3rd garment that acts as an accent, make sure that the accent is in earth tones and not bright or neon colours.

If you are a beginner in mixing prints, and you are not confident enough, then take baby steps you can add prints in your accessories. e.g. :- Bags, shoes etc

Beginners can start with pinstripes, plaids, polka dots and then slowly you can move to intense prints like animal prints....

Well I had 4 looks for this blog, however as this turned a tat bit lengthy, I decided on making this a series, this is part 1 which features two looks and the other two looks will be featured in part 2 of print on print series....

So now let’s see, how I mixed my prints.

Look 1:- Animal Prints + Striped pants

Look 2 :- Striped Shirt + Polka dot scarf + Black Skirt ( the accent in earth tones)

That's my take on print on print, do let me know your opinions on this style.

Next Friday we will meet again with Part 2 until then be comfortably and unapologetically YOU!!!
